Join Our Club

It’s time to renew your Club membership!
July 2010 – June 2011

Hello everyone, I’m the Membership officer for the Puget Sound Club.

Here’s the online renewal link (https://alum.mit.edu/smarTrans/user/PayDues.dyn?groupID=159) for those who are in a hurry and don’t need to read the rest of the note. I realize this note is not formatted succinctly for your smartphone… J

For the rest of us there are some great reasons to join now. The club offers a broad spectrum of events for its members, and is a great way to stay connected with MIT and friends. Your membership entitles you to attend our member-only events, featuring lectures from visiting MIT professors and other exclusive events and activities.

Each year we host:

• Monthly lectures and events featuring prominent local speakers and visiting professors from MIT.

• Monthly Happy Hours/Networking Events in Seattle and the Eastside

• Science and Engineering Program for Teachers (SEPT) - we select 5 teachers each year to attend this one-week summer program for primary, middle, and high-school teachers to take a "drink from the fire hose" that is MIT.

• Discounts to the MIT Enterprise Forum.

• December luncheon with current MIT students from our area during their Winter break.

• Dinner honoring new students admitted to MIT for the following year.

• Annual Summer Picnic - A great chance to meet old friends and make new ones.

If you didn’t participate in the club last year, you missed out on an exciting program of activities and events throughout the greater Seattle region:

Our club is here to serve the needs of the local MIT alumni/ae. It’s a great way to keep in touch with the going’s on at the institute, meet and mingle with MIT professors to hear about their latest research and teaching, and especially to make new friendships (or build on old ones) with your fellow MIT alums.

Our Club is 100% volunteer-run. Your dues cover the cost of mailings and subsidized events (like the annual picnic). For the last few years, dues and special donations have also allowed us to send Washington State teachers to MIT’s Science and Engineering Program for Teachers. You can also receive discounted tickets to each MIT Enterprise Forum dinner event.  Just register for the dinner event using our club web site to receive your discounted ticket price.

When renewing, please consider one of the premium memberships, which additionally help fund the overall goals of the Club. And while you are at it, please considering donating to our Education Program for Washington State teachers. Read more about this program here  http://seattle.mit-club.org/club/committees/education/science-and-engineering-program-for-teachers.
